WHO ARE WE?
Be Church is a family on a mission with a vision to see the nation(s) knowing Jesus
Jesus is the hope of the world. Hebrews 6:19 says “we have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure”. Yet we are living in a world riddled with insecurity, hopelessness, loneliness, and isolation. All leading contributors to the mental health epidemic that plagues this generation.

Social media is promoting followers over friendships and providing a platform for shallow connections that are replacing authentic relationships. We want to build a church where people can come as they are, “be” themselves and find “belonging” in an authentic, open, and loving community. Through belonging, people will have countless opportunities to encounter Jesus for themselves, whether that’s through Alpha, at a Sunday service, in one of our small groups or at one of our many other event or socials.

There are around 3.1 million people in Wales who don’t yet go to church, and we want to bring them all home.
We are a people who are committed to relentlessly pursue the prodigal.

We will do that by breaking the stereotypes of church which are ultimately barriers to people knowing Jesus. It has
been said that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. To reach the people no one is reaching, we must be willing to do the things that no one is doing. We will do church differently, keeping our eyes on Jesus and removing all other distractions.

We will ensure that all people can come as they are, free from judgement. We want to invite everyone to be as involved as they want to be and we do everything with a spirit of excellence, positivity, and fun.
We are on a mission to see all people; belong, believe, and become who God has created them to be.
WHY 'BE CHURCH'?
The name Be Church comes from 3 sources which all point towards our vision ‘to see the nations knowing Jesus’.
Firstly, ‘Be Church’ represents our mission, be is the alliteration found in our mission. Belong, Believe, Become. Fundamentally, we just want people to be who they were created to be, to come as they are, to know they are enough just as they are. We are human beings. We want to communicate to this generation that striving for acceptance can cease. Come and be part of this. Be church.

‘Be church’ is also a statement towards our ecclesiology and the theological understanding that the church is the body of Christ. It is an organism more than it is an organisation. The church isn’t about buildings, it isn’t something you go to. It’s something you ‘belong’ to, its something you are. Our name is a call to action, a call to ‘Be the Church’.

Finally, the name ‘Be Church’ plays homage to the second letter of the Hebrew alphabet, ‘Bet’. ‘Bet’ is the Hebrew word for the letter B. But it literally translates to mean ‘house’. Not a physical house though, it more references a housing of the Spirit. A vessel. As the church we are called to be vessels, to ‘house’ the spirit of God.

OUR LOGO HIGHLIGHTS ALL OF THIS:
Our logo is a ‘Rashi Script’ version of the Hebrew symbol for the letter bet. As said above it literally translates to ‘house’ and represents being a vessel of the spirit.

A call to be the church, the living church. It also looks like the English letter B, which represents our mission to belong, believe and become and it also looks like a 3 which firstly represents the Holy Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and it also brings it full circle to the 3 sources of our name. Be Church.

THE BE CODE

BE ROOTED
Christ is our firm foundation, our source, our saviour. Our hope is in him, firm and secure. We exist to share the hope of Jesus to the world. He is the vine we are the branches, and we will remain rooted in him. Everything we do is for him and everything we have comes from him. We will remain rooted in the local church for it is the body of Christ and the hope of the world.

BE AMBITIOUS
We are ambitious for the kingdom. We dream big and trust God. We are faith filled, fast paced, goal orientated, Jesus followers on a mission to see this nation and every other, know Him. We will do anything short of sin to bring people to Him. The gates of hades will not prevail against the church of Jesus which means we are called to be on the offensive against death and darkness, wherever we see it. We are resilient because He is our ever-present help in time of need.

BE HUMBLE
Christ is our cause He is our strength, His power is made perfect
in our weakness, we are grateful, repentant, agile, teachable, hungry to learn, quick to forgive, slow to anger, and make judgement. We are servant leaders who always seek to promote others above ourselves. We submit to authority, yet challenge injustice.

BE EXCELLENT
We believe we should go big or go home, so until we go home
(to Jesus) we’re going big! We want to do everything we do to the best of our ability. We give our best because we consider it all worship. We want to bring our best to God. We’re on time, we’re engaged, we’re prepared, we honour others.
We pursue health and discomfort, we are consistent, disciplined, and always seek to give our best in everything we do. We are present, persistent and purposeful. We let our yes be yes and our no be no.

BE LIGHT
We choose to bring hope into any situation, to be positive people. Our cup is half-full not half-empty. We see every setback as an opportunity and always seek to be encouraging. We keep our heads up and turn from gossip and negativity. We are light-hearted, playful, approachable, and relatable. We don’t take ourselves too seriously, but we do take our mission seriously. We will seek out the darkest places and bring the light of Jesus.

BE GENEROUS
Cs Lewis said, “Christianity is about giving”. God so loved the world that he gave (John 3:16). So, we believe that our ability to be generous is an invitation from God to join in with him. We are committed to being generous with our time, our treasure and with our talents. We want to be known for our radical generosity. We are a community of contributors not consumers. We believe that every good and perfect gift comes from the Lord, we worship the creator not the created. We will gladly lay down the created things of this world, the treasures of this world, the comforts of this world, as an offering to our creator. We believe that faith requires action and so we are committed to living out our faith in God as our provider through the regular laying down of our finances, our comfort and our calendars.

BE CHURCH
Church isn’t something we go to, it’s something we are. We are
the church. We love the church; we will serve the church and prepare it for the return of Jesus. We are committed to, revitalising churches, partnering with other churches, raising up the next generation of church leaders and ensuring there is a place and a space for everyone to belong through church planting. We believe the church is called to be diverse and united, and we will do all we can to enable that. You can’t love Jesus but hate His church. Loving Jesus is loving His church and committing to see the whole of it flourish.
